HOME A poem by David Francis Sullivan

As I drive up to Old Forge with the pressures of life on my mind

Both real and mostly perceived…

I feel a comfort spreading from the spirits of the mountains

Taking hold of my soul

Embracing my core, whispering

Trust in the Collective spirit of the people and the eternal comfort radiating from

The bosom of Mother Earth

The welcoming embrace as I cross the Moose River

The spirit of the past sharing the wisdom and learnings –

From the Adirondack hardships, wonderment, and joy

That allows you to respect, honor, and blend with the mountain spirits

Some people say – one enters a Vortex of harmony and openness

Who are we to question, be open and experience what you need

If you are open, you will experience what is needed

As I arrive at Old Forge, life’s pressures are put in their proper place

The Fulton Chain reaches out to include me into the circle of

Friendship, trust, and love,

Most of all I am home,

A home I knew not that I was missing or needed

I can say to my family and friends, come visit…

And welcome to my home…

As the fiance of Old Forge resident Linda Valette, David Sullivan makes frequent trips to the area from Northborough, MA. He will be making Old Forge his permanent home in January 2015.
