VIEW to host variety of October workshops

VIEW will offer a variety of educational and fun workshops in the upcoming weeks that will appeal to participants of all levels of experience.

Tie Dye a Jack-O-Lantern T-shirt or Pillowcase workshop will be held on Sunday,

October 12 from noon to 1 p.m. Instructions and all materials are supplied.

A pre-soaked shirt or pillowcase is folded, scrunched and/or twisted. The pattern of the folds and placement of the dyes dictates the resulting design of a jack-o-lantern.

The activity takes approximately 30 minutes. Take your piece and finishing instructions with you or return the next day to embellish your piece. Fees range from $12 to $15.

David Hazard, a 34-year veteran publishing consultant and founder of Ascent, an international prep school for authors, will lead a workshop, Writing an Amazing Memoir, on Sunday, October 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Students will learn how to story-board their memoirs, and how to connect their stories with a broad audience of readers.

Hazard has launched the careers of nearly 250 authors—from Nobel Prize nominees, to TV and film stars, to financial experts and top educators, to everyday men and women— with potent ideas to develop and sell.

The fee is $75/$50 members and includes a light lunch.

Paint on Pottery Open Studio will be held on Sunday, October 12 from1 to 3 p.m.

Browse the shelves and pick out the ceramic piece you’d like to paint.

Choose from mugs, plates, or bowls. All pieces are kiln-fired and will be ready to pick up within a couple of days.

All materials used are nontoxic, dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe. Evening sessions or alternate times are available by appointment. Fees range from $3 to $25

A Fused Glass Platter workshop will be held on Monday, October 13 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Organically nipped pieces of colored glass are arranged on a 10-inch square clear glass to create a one-of-a kind platter. The glass is melted in the kiln, and then heated again to shape into a platter. Finished pieces will be available the following week.

No glass experience is required for this workshop that is. suitable for all ages. The fee is $28/$24 members.

Space is limited and pre-registration for most workshops is required.
