While making a visit to Brooklyn to see his sister on her birthday, Vincent Dolan and his wife, Catherine, of Thendara stopped at Coney Island and took the opportunity to have their picture taken in front of the world famous Wonder Wheel.
Wonder Wheel was built in 1920 by the Eccentric Ferris Wheel Company and was the first of its kind. Its design differed from typical ferris wheels of its day in that not all the passenger cars were permanently attached to the outer frame of the wheel. Rather, some slide on tracks within the wheel’s frame as the wheel rotates.
Wonder Wheel measures 150-feet high, has a diameter of 140 feet and a capacity of 144 passengers.
