VIEW: ‘Broadway Meets Opera’ returning Thursday, August 21st

International opera star Marianne Cornetti and pianist Joan Krueger will perform at VIEW’s 4th annual Broadway Meets Opera event on Thursday, August 21 at 7:30 p.m.

The show is an infusion of opera and Broadway classics sung by Cornetti, a world-renowned opera sensation.

She will sing arias from La Favorita, IL Trovatore, La Gioconda, and Samson and Dalila as well as Broadway classics from The Merry Widow, Carousel and My Fair Lady.

Cornetti has appeared as Amneris in ida, zucena in l Trovatore, nd Eboli in on Carlosat international theatres including the Metropolitan Opera, Vienna State Opera, and Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.and many others.

She began her professional career singing supporting roles in important theaters such as the Metropolitan Opera, Pittsburgh Opera Center and in Wolf Trap.

She is recognized internationally as one of the leading Verdi mezzo-sopranos in the world.

Krueger was named “2004 Coach of the Year” by Classical Singer magazine.

She has accompanied such artists as Cecilia Bartoli, Sumi Jo, and Vinson Cole through her association with New York’s Mostly Mozart Festival, and was seen on A&E’s Breakfast With The Arts, accompanying soprano Carol Vaness.

She has also been an Assistant Conductor for the Sarasota Opera, Music Director for NYU’s Opera Workshop, and on the faculty of the Intermezzo Opera Festival.
