Old Forge Ballet Co.: Fall dance registration starts at four locations

The School of the Old Forge Ballet Company has announced Fall registration for returning and new students this September 2014 in Old Forge, and at its three new locations: Boonville, Long Lake and Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts (ALCA) in Blue Mountain Lake.

The school will be opening on Monday, September 8 for the 2014 to15 season.

Preparation for the “Nutcracker” ballet in December is underway.

The Old Forge Ballet will have a new home in Old Forge, when it offers classes this fall.

Classes and rehearsals will be held on the first floor of the North Woods Community Center, due to renovations being done to the Center.

Plans to occupy the second floor are in the works for after “Nutcracker” in December.

Boonville classes will be held at AMC Kenpo Karate studio, located at 133 Main Street.

The owners, Andrew and Dawn Croniser, had opened their studio to the ballet this summer.

Their children Atlas and Kirsten study at the ballet school and have performed in many “Nutcracker” dance productions.

After the initial spring ballet session at ALCA in Blue Mountain Lake, the ballet school moved to Long Lake at St. Henry’s Parish Center.

Ballet will continue in Long Lake, and the school will resume dance classes at ALCA in September running through until December.

Classes for male and female students, pre-ballet through advanced in the Cecchetti Method of classical ballet, will be taught.

The concentration is on developing the student’s education through the art of dance with the focus on classical ballet as the basis for all creative movement.

The staff of instructors includes Sue Ann Lorenz-Wallace, Director of the School and Artistic Director and President of the Company; Linda Lorenz LaDue, Associate Artistic Director and Vice-President of the Company; Whitney Clair Denesha, Professional Modern & Latin dancer and classical ballet instructor and Secretary of the Company; and Laurie Waranis, Company dancer.

This year adult company dancers Luann Bowen of White Lake, Mary Jane Lasher of Eagle Bay, and Jennifer Dunn of Old Forge will assist the teachers.

Registration and “Nut-cracker” casting has begun.
