Webb receives county trails grant

The Town of Webb has been awarded $9,749 from Herkimer County HealthNet to support additional enhancements and improvements to the TOBIE Trail.

These funds will be utilized to install trail posts and signage that will clearly delineate the TOBIE Trail as well as stops along the trail.

The funds will also be used to design and print TOBIE Trail maps for use by the public, and to install additional bike racks and Adirondack benches at key spots along the trail.

The Town needs to complete some trail reclamation on wet spots along the stretch between Old Forge and Eagle Bay.

This reclamation work, along with an information rack and signage at the visitor center in Eagle Bay, will constitute the town’s matching funds for this grant.

This is the fourth grant awarded to Webb by the Creating Healthy Places Program of Herkimer County HealthNet.

The intent of these funds is to promote healthy lifestyle opportunities through playground and trails support.

Other projects include the recently completed Maple Ridge Fitness Trail, the Pirate Playground, and bike racks and pedestrian crossings around the town.

All of these grants were written and submitted by the Community Grants program of CAP-21. For more information go to www.cap-21.org or call (315) 369-3353.
