View invites all to annual Neighbor Day on Sunday, June 8th

View will host its annual Neighbor Day on Sunday, June 8, from noon to 4 p.m. The event offers an opportunity to discover or rediscover everything that View has to offer including complimentary admission into the galleries to the 63rd annual Central Adirondack Art Show.

Neighbor Day is intended for all ages. Children will enjoy activities, crafts, and the Utica Zoo Mobile will on site.

There are plenty of family activities, entertainment, and opportunities that encourage creativity.

The Meyda Tiffany and Lighting Creative Arts Wing will host a number of demonstrations including woodcarving with Mike Bloomquist, Card Weaving with Margo Boylan and Diane Leach, printmaking with Roger Hynd-man, and basket weaving with Barbara Green.

Joan Herrmann will lead a nature-themed scavenger hunt as well as a nature walk. Carl Heilman II, internationally published photographer and author, will present a photography lecture.

The Performing Arts department will host a musical workshop with renowned multi-instrumentalist Dave Ruch.

Participants will learn to play spoons and “hambone” (body percussion) lastic spoons will be provided.

Following the workshop David will perform at 3 p.m. in Gould Hall. Tickets for the performance are $15 or $10 for members.

David Hazard, founder of Ascent, will be leading a lecture for writers titled, “Getting Publishers To Say Yes.”

Participants will receive in-depth direction, and help with riting heir own winning pitch letter and proposal.

Hazard has launched the careers of nearly 250 authors, from Nobel Prize nominees, television and film stars, financial experts, top educators, and everyday men and women with strong ideas to develop and sell.

North Woods Lodge #849 F&AM and Dewey Old Forge Chapter #449 Order of the Eastern Star will host a chicken barbeque and hot dogs will be sold by Kiwanis Key Club.

Proceeds will benefit each of these organizations.

Students from the Town of Webb School will be exhibiting artwork in the Vandervort Gallery with over 100 pieces will be on display.
