High school senior, Camry Liddle, 17, was born and raised in Old Forge and has attended Town of Webb School since kindergarten.
After graduation, she plans to attend SUNY Oswego to major in Graphic Design with a possibility of a second major in Early Childhood Education and a minor in Photography.
Liddle took photography in her art class the first half of her senior year.
“As much as I like to take the pictures, I really like to edit them; it’s the best part,” she said.
Camry has made a summer hobby of portrait photography, having produced many of her classmates’ senior portraits.
To better prepare herself for college, Camry is currently taking part in the Educational Studies Career Opportunities (ESCO) program the Webb school offers.
The program has her working one period a day with Ms. Payne’s kindergarten class, an experience that attracted her to a potential Early Childhood Education major.
“The kids are really funny; working with them has become the highlight of my day,” she said.
Liddle is currently involved in a number of clubs, including Key Club, Varsity Club, Big Sisters Club, Yearbook Staff and Student Council.
She said the most enjoyable of these is Student Council with faculty advisor, Jed Kinney, who also happens to be her favorite teacher.
“We plan a lot of fun events like school dances and Spirit Week. I really like getting involved,” she said.
In October of 2013, Camry was named the Town of Webb UFSD Kiwanis Student of the Month.
She is an avid soccer player, downhill skier, and a member of the track team.
Her main events in track are the 400-meter dash and the high jump.
Among the many classes she’s taking, her favorite is Art, taught by Mr. Fountain, who she said has influenced her most as to the furtherance of her education.
Another of Camry’s big influences is Kurt Gardner, a local photography professional, who mentored her through ESCO.
“He taught me just about everything I know. I went to a lot of his shoots, it was really interesting,” she said.
During summers, Camry works for her father, as well as Souvenir Village.
“I’m going to miss Old Forge a lot. Especially seeing familiar faces every day,” Camry said.
Camry has one sister, Mackenzie, 20, who is currently attending Utica College with hopes of getting into physical therapy.
She is the daughter of Scott and Julie Liddle of Old Forge, who own and operate Julie Liddle’s Adirondack Vacation Rental Homes and Caretaking Services for the Absentee Owner.
