Old Forestport Day: Celebrate town’s 141st birthday on Aug. 28th

All are invited to join the Town of Forestport and the Forestport Firefighters as they celebrate the Town’s 141st birthday at Old Forestport Day on Saturday, August 27.

The festival will provide food, fun and festivities to area kids of all ages.

Some of the featured events include the Firemen’s Chicken BBQ at noon and craft booths.

The Ladies Auxiliary will serve hotdogs and hamburgers and side salads.

There will be karaoke and music compliments of Dennis Day at the Firehouse Beer Garden and town-wide garage sales.

Also planned is a Slow Pitch Softball Tourney and BBQ at the Dutch Hill Field.

C & R Hardware will sponsor a Bouncing House at the Fire House and a Bouncing House sponsored by Scooter’s Pudding Shots will be set up at the Dutch Hill Ball Field.

Bring your smoked or BBQ entries to Scooter’s at noon for the 3rd Annual Cooking Contest.

The contest is being coordinated by Clare Rieben, last year’s winner. More information on the contest will follow.

The Forestport Diner will also offer special meals and snacks on River Road.

If you want to have more fun, don’t miss The 5th Annual “Anything BUT a Soap Box Derby” coordinated by John and Ann Mason and their family will get underway at 2 p.m. on the River Street course.

Singer, song-writer Donna Mucks will provide a Children’s Music Group at the Fire House at 1 p.m.

The Forestport Presbyterian Church will coordinate kids activities at 4 p.m., also at the Fire House.

Then stay to watch the dynamic dance demonstrations by Haley and Jake Brach followed by a ZUMBA Dance Party.

Saturday’s entertainment also includes the musical talent of the bluegrass sounds of the Mohawk Valley Jammers at 6 p.m. and Southern rock music performed by Suns of the Empire.

Old Forestport Days will end with a fantastic town-sponsored fireworks display by MAJESTIC over the Forestport Pond.
