Summer service planned for Peter Dean Steele, 66

Peter Dean Steele 66, of Eagle Bay passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, December 6, 2013.

He was born on May 21, 1947 in Springfield, MA a son of the late Dr. Kenneth C. and Martha E. (Nickerson) Steele. He was a graduate of Windham College in Windham, VT.

Peter’s love for the Adirondacks led him to settle in Eagle Bay where he was a well known self-employed contractor. Having helped many of the locals with extensive home projects, he was well known for his excellent workmanship.

Peter was a member of Niccolls Presbyterian Church in Old Forge.

Peter loved the outdoors, especially the Adirondack Mountains, and truly appreciated the beauty and grandeur that the Adirondack Mountain region had to offer. He was a kind and caring person who was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be truly missed by his family and many friends.

He is survived by his siblings, Kenneth Steele Jr. and his wife Maureen of Dallas, TX; Carol Steele of New Hartford; Joanne Steele Welsh and her husband Tom of Pittsburgh, PA; and Robert W. Steele and his wife Irene of Pittsford, NY. He also leaves his nephew Tom Welsh of New York City, and a niece Catherine Steele of Pittsford, NY; also his step nieces and nephews, Jean M. Kolb of Rochester, NY;  Michael T. Kolb also of Rochester, NY; Jacqueline Layland of Caladonia, NY; and Thomas M. Kolb of Dallas, TX.

A memorial service will be held in the summer at a date, time and location to be announced. He will be interred next to his parents at Crown Hill Memorial Park in Clinton, NY.
