Spring services planned for Eleanor Hansen

Eleanor L. Hansen 90, of Eagle Bay passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Utica surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on September 9, 1923 in Chadwicks, NY a daughter of the late Lawrence and Jennie (Mahar) Lowell. On February 16, 1946 in Cassville, NY she was united in marriage to Robert L. Hansen a blessed union of over 54 years filled with much love and mutual devotion. Mr. Hansen died on May 1, 2000.

Eleanor was employed at one time with the Cassville Post Office and later until her retirement she was employed with Eagle Bay Service Car Dealership in Eagle Bay.

She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Inlet and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Her memberships also included the Red Hat Ladies in Inlet, the Eagle Bay Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and the RCIL Senior Program.

Eleanor loved crafts, especially knitting and cross stitching, but it was her family who brought her the most joy.

She is survived by her children, Dennis W. Hansen and his wife Carol of Conway, SC; Carolyn Williams and her husband John of Wilmington, NC; Ron Hansen and his wife Kathy of Inlet; Norman R. Hansen of Holland Patent, and James L. Hansen of Eagle Bay. She also leaves 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She leaves a brother Kenneth Lowell of Sauquoit and a sister Beverly Sullivan of West Winfield, also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson David, a brother, Larry Lowell, and a sister Eva Smith.

The family wishes to sincerely thank the Inlet Volunteer Emergency Services and the Eagle Bay Fire Department for their many acts of kindness.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at a date and time to be announced at Riverview Cemetery in Old Forge. Arrangements are with the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home at 128 Fern Ave in Old Forge.
