Forestport schedules holiday events for community and visitors, Dec. 8th

The Town of Forestport will celebrate the Christmas holiday by hosting its 2nd Annual Electric Horse Parade on Sunday, December 8.

The event will begin with a kids visit with Santa from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Forestport Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall on Woodhull Street.

Visitors are invited to enjoy hot cider as they view an art display at Connie Smith’s Art Gallery on Woodhull Street throughout the afternoon.

The Forestport Diner will stay open and Scooter’s Bar and Grill will provide kid-friendly eggnog.

At 4:30 p.m. the Electric Horse Parade will line-up in the parking area across from St. Patrick’s Church. Everyone in the Electric Horse Parade is asked to carry some type of lighting. Come see the specially lit up Horses and Girl Scout Troop #2 who will present their Human Christmas Tree.

The parade will proceed through the streets and everyone will assemble in the Memorial Park for the horse-drawn Santa prior to the lighting of the community Christmas tree.

There will also be a “Mystery Christmas Skit Surprise” and singing of Christmas carols along with refreshments.

The winners of the “Decorate Your House Contest” will be announced and the winner of the Tree Topper Contest will get to see their entry gracing the top of the Christmas tree in Memorial Park.

Specially priced light up items are on sale at the Forestport Diner and the Station Country Store in Forestport Station.
