Old Forge Library announces poster contest for children

The Old Forge Library is sponsoring a Book Poster Contest for school age children to introduce the 64 new books donated by the Friends of the Old Forge Library and the Libri Foundation

The Libri Foundation, a non-profit organization which donates new, quality, hardcover children’s books to small, rural public libraries in the U.S. matched, in a two to one ratio, the amount of funds raised by the Friends.

To enter the contest, kids can come to the library, check out and read one of the new books, and create a poster that will inspire others to read the same book.

There will be four school-grade categories: K through three, four and five, six through eight, and nine through 12. The winner in each category will receive a free ticket and popcorn at the Strand Theatre. Strand owners Bob Card and Helen Zyma will judge the contest.

Deadline for entry is Tuesday, December 3 with the winners announced at the library’s Christ-mas Party on Friday, December 20.

All entries will be on display at the library through mid-January.

More information is available by calling the library at (315) 369-6008.
