Services held for Mary Theresa Eddo Asker

Mrs. Mary Theresa Eddo Asker passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare. Mary was born in Utica, a daughter of the late Najeeb and Fatna (Saba) Eddo. She was educated in local schools and a graduate of Utica Free Academy.

On November 6, 1948, Mary was joined in marriage to Esper (Anthony) Asker. They enjoyed over forty-six loving years together until his passing on March 18, 1995.

Mrs. Asker was employed as a bookkeeper at Boss-Linco Trucking for over ten years; she then worked along with her husband at the family business, Acoustican Hearing Aids in Oneonta for many years.

After his death, she worked at the Mohawk Valley Vol-unteer’s Association.

Mary was a very self-sufficient woman who for the past ten years was a volunteer at the Presbyterian Home, and right up until three weeks ago lived on her own and drove daily.

A loving and independent lady, Mary’s life revolved around her family and her church. She will be sadly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila (Bellows) and Dan Rivet, of Old Forge; her two sons and one daughter in law, Brian and Karin Asker, of Sauquoit and Jim Asker, of Nashville; her granddaughter, Courtney Asker and her mom, Jennifer Asker – Kozminski; special grandchildren, Danielle, Paul, Mike, Morgan, Jordan, and Sidney; brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Moe and Betty Asker; and many nieces and nephews and a special friend, Marion Jabour.

She was predeceased by her two sisters, Dolly and Catherine; her two brothers, Dominick and Fred; and her son-in-law, Ron Bellows.

The family would like to offer their sincerest thanks to Dr. George Kozminski. They would also like to thank the 2nd floor nursing staff of the Allen Calder Wing of St. Luke’s and Dr. Emile Wassel for the loving care and compassion shown to Mary during her illness.

In memory of Mary Asker, please consider donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS).
