Sharon Murphy Jackson lost her battle with lung cancer on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at her home in Stafford, VA.
Sharon attended high school at the Town of Webb School, graduating in 1974. She worked for 
years as a waitress at the Old Forge Howard Johnson’s Restaurant. In 1975 she joined and served in the U.S. Navy based out of Virginia Beach, VA. She spent the rest of her professional career as a computer programmer for the IRS.
In 1977, she married Mitchell (Mike) Jackson and raised two children, a son, Mitchell Jackson III and a daughter, Jacklyn Jackson. Sharon joyfully welcomed her first graddaughter in 2005, Molly Jackson.
Sharon leaves behind her mother, Marie Murphy of Old Forge; her brother Don and sister-in-law Lisa Murphy of Old Forge; her brother Mike and sister-in-law Sandy Murphy of Ballston Spa; her sister, Jackie of Castro Valley, CA; her two children, Mitchell and Jacklyn; her granddaughter, Molly; and her fiancé, Greg Jones; along with several cousins and many friends.
She was predeceased by her father Francis Murphy.
Sharon was a beloved mother, sister, daughter and friend. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral services were held on October 30 at St. Peter’s Parish at 422 Coventry Ave. in northern Utica.
