The pilots, manning 17 bush planes, made the overnight stop to visit local pilot Mike Mitchell, owner of the airport.

According to pilot T.C. Williams, the group makes the trip to Wentworth every year, and stop at various private airports along the way.

He said the flight from Old Forge would take approximately two hours, as the planes travel an average of 80 to 85 miles per hour.

The pilots, representing the states of Maine, North Dakota, Kansas and Ohio, get together for other group flights throughout the year.

“We’re just a bunch of people having a good time enjoying the scenery, with no destination and don’t care when we get there,” Williams said.
