The Adirondack Scenic Railroad will offer plenty of Halloween spooktacular fun aboard the Pumpkin Trains that will depart from Thendara Station on Saturday and Sunday, October 19 and 20th.
Young passengers are invited to dress in costumes. Prizes will be awarded each day to those wearing the best costumes with the winners receiving four tickets aboard the Adirondack Scenic Railroad’s 2013 Santa Claus Train Ride.
The train will travel north through the picturesque Adirondack wilderness to the former site of the New York Central’s Carter Station.
Once the train arrives at Carter Station, young costumed passengers will disembark and enter Wally’s Pumpkin Patch where they can select their own pumpkin. The lucky child who picks “the Great Pumpkin” will have the opportunity to ride back to Thendara Station in the locomotive with the engineer and one parent or guardian.
On the return trip candy will be distributed to all kids on-board. The round-trip journey will last approximately one hour and 15 minutes.
Following the train’s arrival back at Thendara Station, passengers are invited to walk across the street and tour haunted and historic Thendara Town Hall. Guests will be greeted by spooky friends and enjoy hot cider and treats.
Trains will depart Thendara Station at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. rain or shine.
Tickets are $15 for ages 12 to adult, $10 for children ages 2 to 11, with children ages 2 and under admitted free. Ticket prices include the train ride to pumpkin patch, complimentary pumpkin for children in costumes, candy, cider, and visit to haunted Town Hall.
Reservations are suggested, but walk-ups are welcome. For tickets or further information contact (315) 369-6290 or www.adirondackRR.com.
