Eagle Bay native Leslie Suprenant presented a program on the life of Anne LaBastille to a group of over 75 friends and fans of the late author at the Old Forge Library on Friday, September 20th.
Suprenant, an ecologist for the NYS DEC, was a longtime friend of LaBastille’s.
As a fellow NYS licensed guide and co-instructor of Wilderness Women Workshops, they shared many outdoor adventures together.
In her tribute, Suprenant talked about LaBastille’s family history and her childhood, as well as her professional achieve-ments as an ecologist, author and woods-woman.
During the program, Suprenant presented a $500 check to Old Forge Library Director Izzie Worthen which was bequeathed to the library by LaBastille.
LaBastille, an award-winning author of the Woods-woman series of books, passed away in 2011.
