According to ANCA representative Jennifer Jubin, the organization determined on Tuesday, September 17 that the goal had been exceded with the addition of $12,600 in funds raised through the recent Calypso’s Cove Charity Go Kart Races.

“A tremendous amount of work has gone into achieving this goal. From the committee who put on the Strand Gala, to Nick Rose at CAP-21, to the Go Kart Races and all the other efforts—a true spirit of community has been displayed by the Old Forge community,” Jubin said.

Though ANCA’s initial community goal has been met, Jubin stressed that continued support is needed as the full cost of the digital conversion is estimated at $250,000 to $280,000.

“There is at least $50,000 more to raise for the full conversion. We don’t want to send the message that the work is done. We really need to continue the support, and commend the efforts set forth by everyone,” she said.

In adding the figures from other pools of resources, Jubin estimates that close to $200,000 has currently been raised.

Bob Card and Helen Zyma, owners of the Strand, expressed their appreciation for the continued community support and hold dear the personal notes and heartfelt sentiments that have been extended them through the fundraising process.

“We are so extremely grateful for all the support we have received. It makes us feel so good that people care so much about this project—and we won’t let anyone down. We want the theater to always be here and enjoyed for years to come,” Card said.
