Town of Forestport to celebrate official opening of Twin Bridges, September 29

With all guard rails completely in place, the Twin Bridges in the Town of Forestport officially opened to traffic on Thursday, September 19th. The approval of the opening came from Forestport Highway Superintendent Bill Gardner.Bridges open

A Ribbon Cutting and official Opening Ceremony will be held on Sunday, September 29th at 1 p.m. on the town-side of the Twin Bridges with  Terry Larkin cutting the ribbon.

Father Sean O’Brien and Aggie Walker of the Pres-byterian Church will be present to bless the bridges.

Members of the Forestport Fire Department will christen the bridges with their 1891 Howe Pump and Engine Company in a “wetting down” ceremony.

The antique engine was built in Indianapolis and recently refurbished by the Amish.

Classic cars, the Model T Club, members of the Resistance MC, Girl Scouts and Little League members will be led over the Twin Bridges by Abby Scouten on her horse during the festivities.
