Todd Hobin Band returning to Ole Barn for reunion concert

The Todd Hobin Band will play a Blast from the Past Reunion Concert at the Ole Barn in Inlet on Saturday, August 17th.

The band, which played every summer at the Ole Barn for over ten years, will return to play old favorites from the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s as well as new songs from their recently released album.

The evening starts with dinner from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with the show kicking off at 9 p.m.

Lead singer Todd Hobin, who describes the Ole Barn as the “scene of some of the most amazing shows in the history of rock and roll,” said the band will play an acoustic set and a classic rock set.

Started in the early 1970s, the Todd Hobin Band played 200 nights a year through the 1970s, 80s and into the 90’s in cities including Albany, Philadelphia, NYC and Boston.

They also had a number of national tours opening for The Beach Boys, The Kinks and Allman Brothers.

When band members started having families and late nights got hard on everybody, the band cut back on live shows and did more in the studio, recording five albums over the years, plus one live album.

Today, the Band does about ten shows a year.

“These live shows are very special to us,” Hobin said.

The band includes original members Hobin, on guitar and vocals; Shawn Hobin (Todd’s brother) on drums; and Doug Moncrief on guitar, keyboard and vocals.

Also in the group are Bruce Fowler on lead guitar, who joined shortly after the group was formed, and Todd’s son Brett Hobin on bass.

The band’s most recent CD, “It’s Not Over,” released in late 2012, was nominated for a Sammy award (Syracuse Area Music Award) for best rock album of the year.

While the band is celebrating their 40th anniversary, the reunion theme at the Ole Barn is really about getting the fans together, Todd  said.

“I get the biggest kick hanging out with the fans. I get to meet their kids who also know our music. It’s awesome.”

Tickets for the show are $35 and includes a buffet dinner. Reservations are strongly encouraged by calling (315) 357-4000.
