We are Fam-i-ly… I’ve got them all working for me…

Aren’t we all so darn lucky to live in such a beautiful area? So lucky, in fact, that everyone loves to come for a visit to the Adirondacks, friends and family alike. I see all of your faces, from the beginning of your visits right ‘til the end.

And just so ya know, shell-shocked is a look all its own. Especially those of you who get bombarded with the grandkids. By the end of the week you’ve got the “train ran over me” persona going on, and it really is quite amusing.

Now pay attention fellow homeowners of beautifulness, cuz I have discovered a delightful little secret. Let me share how we handle company here in Woodgate…we put ‘em to work.

That’s right, each and every guest has their own set of responsibilities when they cross our property line and it makes the visit so much more pleasant! We’re way too busy in the summer months to try to cater to anyone, so the sharing of tasks makes for an oh-so-smooth weekend which flies right by.

Of course, I’m proud to have family members who are willing to hop right into Lucky Dogs’ window to welcome our customers. They help me slice, dice, haul, stock coolers and all that fun stuff. But trust me, after a few days of this they’re totally ready to giddyup outta town with the aroma of hot dogs wafting all about them.

We do, however, reward them with wonderful dinners at local establishments. Sister Lisa’s birthday celebration included the most delightful evening at the Woods Inn—food was fabulous, as well as the lovely view outside of our waterfront window. See? We’re more than fair and quite generous, but because we are fam-i-ly there’s no need to compensate blood relatives with silly paychecks.

Surely there are chores for your visitors too…wood to split or haul, assistance with cleaning and/or cooking—why the list is endless.

So if your company gets ya down and you have that not-so-nice feeling, feel free to utilize my plan. Please know how much I so adore my family, and that this line was not added just because there are (as of this writing) only eight shopping days left until my birthday.
