Muriel Cohen Memory Celebrations support golf clinics, scholarships

Lexie Haehl, Bryan Townsend, and myself, all recent Town of Webb School graduates, were awarded scholarships on Monday, July 30th at the Thendara Golf Club.

The scholarships were made available through the fund created by the Muriel Cohen Memory Celebration.

The scholarships were earned through our connection with the game of golf which instills in young people values such as integrity, honesty, and community.

Rich Chapman, head professional at Thendara Golf Club, is the catalyst for this growth in our community’s young people.

Rich has a rare talent for teaching the game as well as the life lessons attached to the game, for young and old.

Over the course of the last several years, Rich has helped us grow and lead us to pursue varying interests in our adult lives.

The Muriel Cohen Memory Celebration is dedicated to establishing this growth throughout our community.

It provides a series of free clinics, led by Rich, that introduce children to the game of golf.

Similar clinics are held for adults.

A clinic for women is held weekly on Thursdays at 4 p.m., and men have a chance to learn the game every Friday at 4 p.m.

All these clinics are made possible through the Muriel Cohen Memory Celebration.

A golf tournament, The Memory Celebration, will be held on Friday, August 30th to raise funds in support of these clinics and scholarships.
