Julia Mary Gibson Biehn, of Limekiln Lake, Inlet, passed away on March 1, 2016, in the early afternoon, surrounded by family. Julie was playing tennis when she was stricken, on Saturday, February 27, with a heart attack and lost consciousness. She won the final point.
Julie was born in New Hartford, NY, on August 21, 1938, to Marvin Edward Gibson and Evelyn (Bacile) Gibson.
She graduated from Mt. Holyoke College, with a BA in Economics and Mathematics, in 1960.
She completed a New York State teaching certificate, in 1961, at Hofstra College, and then studied economics, at the graduate level at Duke University, from 1961 to 1964, where she met her husband, Kenneth G. Biehn. Julie and Ken were married on June 29, 1963.
She loved teaching, at all levels, and spent her career as an instructor at Lafayette College, as a substitute in the Central Bucks School District and as the Education Coordinator for the Network of Victim Assistance in Bucks County.
Her passion for education was rivaled only by her faith. Julie’s faith guided her work, and her commitment to volunteer organizations.
Julie and Ken retired to Limekiln Lake, Inlet, NY, in 2007.
Immediately, Julie became an active member of the Inlet community, including service to the Church of the Lakes and the Inlet Historical Society, as secretary of the board.
Her history includes 65 years at Limekiln Lake, a community that became her extended family. Julie’s kindness and love were pervasive, whether she was bringing meals to a sick friend, serving as a frontline volunteer, skiing or playing tennis with her husband and children, or laughing and playing games and cooking with her grandchildren. She loved her life, her family and her friends, with passion.
Julie is survived by her husband, Ken; her three sons, Chris (Julie), Sander (Laurie), and Steve (Jenni); her grandchildren, Hannah, Ella, Hadrian, Jeremiah, Andrew, Parker, Asher, and Simon; and her brother, Edward.

A memorial service is being planned for this summer in Inlet, NY.
