F. Jane Eyre died Friday, March 4, 2016 at St. John’s Home in Rochester, NY. She was born May 16, 1927 in Rochester, NY to Arthur E. Eyre, Sr. and Louise Dezen Eyre.

Janie is survived by her brother, Arthur Eyre and sister-in-law, Annette; her nieces Alison Eyre Albright, Hope Eyre, and Patience (Michael) Rubyor, great-niece Tenley Jane Albright and great-nephews Ross Eyre Albright, Justin Rubyor, and Wyatt Donaldson.

She is also survived by her best friend and constant companion of 82 years, Suzanne Barrett of Rochester, NY and Third Lake, Old Forge. 

Janie had a marvelous smile and laugh and is greatly loved and missed by all who knew her.

Born and raised in Old Forge, Jane attended the Town of Webb schools and upon graduation, attended the University of Rochester, where she received her Bachelor’s of Nursing Degree in 1948.

She worked as a nurse at Strong Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1990.

Janie loved cooking, entertaining, traveling, and especially her family.

A memorial service will be held later in the spring at Niccolls Memorial Church in Old Forge.
