Historian Richard Williams, a longtime summer resident of Eagle Bay, has developed a web site about the history of the nearly 130-year-old hamlet located in the Town of Webb.
Included on the site are current and past photographs and post cards, area maps, a history of the Eagle Bay Volunteer Hose Co., and a time line of notable events.
The web site can be viewed at www.eaglebayny.org.
Williams, of Clinton, NY, has owned property on Fourth Lake for the past 37 years.
He is the Town Historian of Clinton, and historian of Big Moose Community Chapel.
He has authored a number of regional books including Big Moose Chapel 1981 – 2006, Along Oriskany & Big Creeks: Geology, History and People, Farms & Barns in Kirkland, NY, among others.
This past summer he presented a lecture on the history of Eagle Bay at Big Moose Community Chapel which was sponsored by the Town of Webb Historical Association.
