The weather was perfect—not too hot, not too cold, little to no bugs, and just right—for the SHARP participants to enjoy a picnic at Nicks Lake on Wednesday, June 17.
We enjoyed relaxing in the sun, taking a walk, playing games, and some even went on the swings!
Nothing tastes better than hamburgers and hotdogs cooked on a grill and s’mores for dessert.
But our Seniors can tell you it is so much better with a group of sociable friends who share the fun of our program.
Much planning and many volunteers made this event a successful one…but sometimes the best things happen without planning!
We did not know that we had planned our picnic at the same time as the Town of Webb School kindergarten class’s end of the year pen pal picnic.
We joined up with them to enjoy a game of “Cat and Mouse” using their colorful parachute. It was a wonderful and unexpected opportunity for our elders and our youngsters to have a great time together.
Our picnic day is one of many activities that can be enjoyed by being involved with our Senior Health, Activity and Recreation Program (SHARP).
This is a free program offered to all independent senior citizens from Woodgate to Raquette Lake.
We meet at Niccolls Memorial Church in Old Forge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Wednesday.
Lunch during our regular Wednesday sessions is provided by the Community Health & Wellness Fund (formerly the Town of Webb Health Center Fund.)
