Ice Fest: Raquette and Long lakes to host annual event on Feb. 6th & 7th

The Town of Long Lake Parks and Recreation Department will host the fourth annual Ice Fest celebration in Raquette Lake and Long Lake on Friday and Saturday, February 6 and 7.

Ice installations start Friday morning at 9 a.m. in Raquette Lake and at 8 a.m. Saturday in Long Lake.

Stan Kolonko, award-winning ice carver and champion of the Ice Farm in Auburn, NY will be creating ice sculptures and hosting live demonstrations throughout the weekend.

Kolonko and his sculpting team travel to compete in World Class events having placed first in the 2013 BP World Ice Art Championships in Fairbanks, AK in the multi-block sculpture abstract category.

Sculptures will be installed at the Raquette Lake Library, The Town of Long Lake Office Building, Long Lake Town Beach, The Long Lake Diner, Owls Head Mountain Farm, The ADK Trading Post, The Shamrock Motel, Gillis Realty, the Long Lake Library and Hoss’s Country Corner.

Long Lake Parks and Recreation will be scheduling mini-events during the day.

Spectators are encouraged to participate in trivia challenges, games and more to win prizes.
