Joan M. Smith, 79 of Florida and Eagle Bay passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse. She was born in Utica on Tuesday, February 20, 1934 the daughter of Alexander and Lucy (Wendzel) Mieczkowski and attended local schools.
She was a former resident of New Jersey where she was employed as a Civil Servant with the Borough of Ringwood. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagle Bay Volunteer Fire & Hose Company.
Her survivors include her two sons, Emery (Laurie) Smith of Greenwood Lake, NY and Jeffrey Smith of Eagle Bay; and a daughter, Kathy and her husband David McKinnon of Florida; a sister, Helen Moskal of Utica and a brother, Edward Mieczkowski of Taberg.
Also included are her three grandchildren Monica, Nina and Alex. She was predeceased by her sister Marion Maretta.
Services were held at Holy Trinity Church, Utica.
