Deb Burrington-Mills, owner of Gallery 3040 on Main Street, Old Forge will welcome area plein air artist Chad Smith for a special program and painting demonstration on Friday, August 26 from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

He will bring along a wide representation of the work he did while on location.

One of the paintings, along with one he created in Nantucket, have been selected for inclusion in this fall’s American Impressionistic Society’s 12th Annual Juried Exhibition in Monterey, CA.

During the program, Smith will offer a painting demonstration and explain his approach to painting outdoors.

He will accept questions from the audience throughout the program as well as at the end of the presentation.

All are welcome. Seating is limited.A wine reception will follow from 5 to 7 p.m.

Smith’s paintings from Ireland, as well as some of his work done locally will be on exhibit and available for purchase.

His most current local works include scenes from the Moose River and Thendara Train Station.

The demonstration and reception are free of charge and open to the public.

Smith, who is originally from the Midwest, moved to New Hartford with his wife, Erin two-and-a-half years ago to live closer to her family.

He said they are tremendously thankful and blessed to be living in the area and for the opportunities it has afforded them.

“I am grateful for the tremendous support Deb has given me, and am looking forward to bringing this unique program to Gallery 3040,” Smith said.
