Keys for NYS: 2012 holds potential for some great success

After a winning 2011, New York is once again a force to be reckoned with—however, there is a great deal of work left to be accomplished before declaring victory.

Just like any sports team that has an early lead, making the right halftime adjustments is the key to victory.

In order for New York to come home a winner we need to follow my “Keys for Success.”

My game plan focuses on four main areas—economic development, mandate relief, reform of the education aid formula, and continued flood recovery assistance. Continue reading

CTS Board invites all to charity dinner

The board of the Community Transportation Services, Ltd. (CTS) invites the community to a charity dinner at Billy’s Italian- American Restaurant on Thursday, January 26.

Dinner seatings are available from 5 to 5:30 p.m. and 7 to 7:30 p.m. Twenty percent of the dinner proceeds will support the transportation service.

CTS is an all-volunteer van service that provides over 1,000 rides per year to seniors and others needing transportation to primarily medical appointments, but also to pharmacies, grocery stores and churches.

According to board member and volunteer, Ray Schoeberlein, the van in Old Forge traveled over 40,000 miles in 2011.
