Town of Webb senior Conner Glasser, 17, has lived in Old Forge all his life.
Though not finalized, his top choices are Alfred State and Clarkson University.
He plans to study Mechanical Engineering at either of the schools.
“I chose that because I like math and science—more of a physics science; it led me towards engineering,” he said.
His favorite class is Physics. “You can relate it to every day things,” Connor said.
“I don’t have a favorite teacher. I like them all the same,” he said.
Connor has been a member of the Webb soccer team. He also plays third base and outfield for the baseball teams.
He also skied for the Town of Webb school’s Alpine team, which won the New York State Championship this past winter.
Musically, he has played the trombone in band since fifth grade.
He is the president of Student Council and Secretary of Yearbook Staff.
He is also in Key Club.
In his spare time, Connor likes to ski and ride his snowmobile.
“I love to be outdoors swimming and fishing,” he said of his summer activities.
“I really enjoy hiking in the High Peaks. So far, of all the mountains I’ve climbed, Haystack is my favorite,” he said.
“Haystack was really fun—very deceiving. You think you see the top, get to that point, and it really isn’t even close.”
Connor said his favorite hobby is playing sports.
His parents are James and Janet Glasser. Janet runs Village Cottages in Old Forge and James owns and operates Glasser Plumbing and Heating of Old Forge.
Connor has an older sister, Mackenzie, and an older brother, James.
He said his father has influenced him most. “He worked hard for all that we have,” he said.
Connor has one pet, Ginger, a yellow lab. “I’m going to miss her a lot when I go to college,” he said.
He is looking forward to graduation. “I’m going to try to have fun this summer, since it’s my last one up here,” he said.
“I’m gonna miss our community, it’s pretty close. All my friends and I are really close.”
