Sometimes spontaneous actions turn out the best…cuz that is exactly how our little Georgian vacation has etched itself into my “best ever” memory bank.
Love that state. Loved traveling in an R.V. so much that I came right out and asked Jamie and Alex for one for Mommy’s Day.
And loved having Bucky with us because he had just as much fun as we did. What a good boy; the kind of dog you’re just proud to be with because he listens with both ears and does what he is told to do. He loved running those mountains, I’ll tell ya. He wants an R.V. also as he spent some twenty hours each way sprawled on the bench seat at the table. Yes, a very good boy.
Truly, we had a couple days of rain but the rest were 70ish bright sunny bliss. Our cabin was perched on top of a mountain with fantastic views from the front porch. Hot tub on premises and all the privacy any human being could ask for. It was perfect and I will be forever grateful that we did not pass this up.
So what is it about the state of Georgia that intrigues me so? We did not like North Carolina…the folks there were a bit pushy, loud and oh so twangy. Not these gentle Georgians though, barely any twang at all, so darn friendly and nice, footloose and fancy-free.
And the food—oh, the marvelous food. We got incredibly lucky at each and every restaurant we patronized, which makes my world such a happy place.
The cabin owners provided little diary “write your comments” books, so of course yours truly couldn’t resist. My entry went like this:
“Bittersweet trip to these Georgia mountains. Recently diagnosed with terminal cancer and felt the pull to be closer to Heaven and God. Have picked out my own cloud so mission accomplished. If this is in fact my very last vacation on this earth than I could not have made a better choice and I am forever thankful. God bless this beautiful state and my wonderful husband for getting me here!”
So now we are on a mission to sell this Woodgate home, pray for some extra time together and giddyup down to Georgia. I miss my Lucky Dogs already. Will not be opening this year for obvious reasons—feeling old and slow—but maybe we can find someone else who is interested in slinging some weenies on Rte.28 in Woodgate.
Keep praying folks. You guys are clearly doing a marvelous job cuz I feel pretty darn good these days and ready for some yard work.
I’m seeing spring and boy oh boy this makes me sooooooo happy! Now, if I could just find a banjo…
