Town of Webb Councilman David Berkstresser has met recently with principals involved in the project to build a new emergency services antenna atop McCauley Mountain.
Berkstresser has joined the effort on behalf of the Town Board.
Discussions have included Webb Code Enforcement Officer Andy Getty and Bob Vander-walker, Coordinator for Herkimer County Emergency Medical Services.
The process needs to keep moving so grant money can be expended, as required, before the end of the year, according to Berkstresser. Continue reading
The new playground equipment at McCauley Mountain Ski Area, which was made possible by a recreation grant through Herkimer HealthNet’s Creating Healthy Places program, was installed on Tuesday, August 25.
The Town of Webb received funding in the amount of $6,483 for the improved equipment through the community grant writing assistance of CAP-21’s Executive Director Nick Rose. Continue reading

Family and friends of the late Tayler Schmid gathered at McCauley Mountain on Thursday, July 23 to honor Tayler’s memory on his 18th birthday.
The family-friendly event, which raised funds for the organization, Families for Depression Awareness, included food, beverages, raffles, children’s games, activities, and a Riggies Cook-Off.
Music was provided by Paul Case, Jim and Gwen Tracy, John Kelsey & Brian Mulkerne, Joe Bolton, Chloe Barkauskas, and Alisha Robinson.
The evening ended with a lantern release at 10 p.m.

McCauley Mountain will be open for a final day of operation on Sunday, April 12 from 9 a.m. until 4:10 p.m.

The Fat Bike Festival will return to McCauley Mountain on Sunday, March 22 and features fat bike demo rides, races, group rides, prizes, giveaways and refreshments.

In an effort to expose Town of Webb School students to the many recreational opportunities in the area, Athletic Director David Leach organized a ski trip to McCauley Mountain for seventh and eighth students on Thursday, March 12.
Forty students—many new to the sport of alpine skiing—took advantage of the trip. Continue reading
