Last Saturday’s Chili Bowl Gathering at VIEW-arts reminded me that NO ONE does it alone!
As LIFE itself is one GRANDE RELAY of energy—our generation stepping on the shoulders of its prior counterparts. So, too, does this reach into our small Adirondack world and like events.
The enthusiasm of Saturday’s bowl-makers, that included Sherry and Nancy and others of Bette Rintrona’s mentorship, began the custom of today’s ‘chili bowls.’ Continue reading
The Friends of the Old Forge Library, like so many long standing groups, needs a little more support from folks who recognize the value of the Old Forge Library and the services provided.

Participants at the March 27th Loaves and Fishes Luncheon at Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church in Old Forge were treated to an informational presentation by Kathy Fox, director, and Melissa Lanphier, caseworker, of the Herkimer County Office for the Aging (OFA).
The pair of experts on senior-related issues were invited by Mary Brophy-Moore, Town of Webb Councilwoman.

Loaves and Fishes luncheons are co-sponsored by Niccolls Memorial, St. Anthony’s and St. Bartholomew’s churches.
They welcome all community members to get together, while encouraging that a dish be brought along to pass.
Fox and Lanphier described a number of beneficial healthcare programs that OFA offers to Herkimer County residents ages 60 and above. Continue reading
The Old Forge Library’s annual luncheon, which in the past has been held in January, has been moved to Monday, February 10 to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the library’s founding.
The luncheon will be held at the library at noon and is free of charge. The menu will include soup, sandwiches, beverages and a birthday cake baked by Trish Sehring, a multi-time winner of the library’s annual Sweetheart Bake-Off. Continue reading

View will present a spaghetti luncheon and reader’s theater performance of “Over the River and Through the Woods” on Sunday, November 20 at 12:30 p.m.
“Over the River and Through the Woods” is a comedy written by Joe DiPietro, the author and lyricist of “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.”
A food drive for the Town of Webb Community Food Banks will also be conducted the day of the event. All are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or household good along with them.
