While researching A. B. Lamberton’s activities at the Fulton Chain, I found an article written for FOREST AND STREAM, March 23 1876, the only reference to Lamberton in “Adirondack Bibliography” published by the Adirondack Mountain Club.

A copy was generously provided to me by Jerry Pepper, Librarian of the Adirondack Museum at Blue Mountain.

Instead of being the expected, technical report of a naturalist placing young fish in wilderness lakes, I found the narrative to be informative historically and entertaining. Continue reading →

This article intends to continue the story of the deceased, to bring them to our consciousness for a brief moment of meditation for maybe a last time for some, and present them in honor of families who probably have never forgotten.

PART THREE

THE FULTON CHAIN CLUB PRESERVE. Under the pilotage of one of those faithful hunters, young Abner Blakeman [popular Inlet guide, died in 1925 in a tragic auto accident], the writer recently explored the greater part of the Fulton Chain Club’s lands and lakes.

The outlet from Fifth Lake, flowing into Fourth Lake at Hess’ Camp, forms a water lane of great beauty, just sufficiently wide and deep to enable the guide to navigate his boat against its clear swift current.  Continue reading →
