An opening reception for the 34th annual Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Water-colors will be held at VIEW, the arts center in Old Forge, on Friday, August 7 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The reception is free and open to the public. Refreshments and light fare will be specially prepared by Town of Webb graduate and executive sous chef of the Club at Olde Cyprus, Naples, FL, Justin Connerty.

“The Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors is the crowning jewel of VIEW’s summer season, drawing artists and art appreciators from across the country,” said Cory Card, VIEW’s exhibitions manager. Continue reading →

Officials gather to inaugurate Old Forge–Thendara Community Shuttle

Elected officials, community leaders and area business owners were invited to the inauguration and celebration of the Old Forge–Thendara Community Shuttle that was held at Van Auken’s Inne in Thendara on Thursday, July 30.

The Community Shuttle, an ADA compliant public transportation opportunity, was realized with help from legislators, state and town officials, community organizations and local business owners.  Continue reading →

Forestport: Bob Seager running for supervisor

Robert Seager of Forestport has announced that he will be seeking the office of Town Super-visor in the upcoming November election.

He will be running on the Democratic line.

Seager said he also intends to seek the Independence nomination when party members vote in their primary on Tuesday, September 10th.

Returning to Old Forge First Friday Art Walk: Enjoy artists’ work and live music August 7th

The First Friday Art Walk in Old Forge on August 7 will feature seven venues for art lovers to shop, eat, listen to music, meet artists and view demonstrations from 5 to 8 p.m.

The venues are: Gallery 3040, The Starving Artist Gallery, 5 Corners Café, the Old Forge Library, The Goodsell Museum, The Lights Are On Design Studio, and Sisters Bistro. Continue reading →

Gun Show and Adirondack Expo returns to Old Forge pavilion on August 1 and 2

The New Eastcoast Arms Collectors Associates, Inc. (NEACA) will host a Gun Show and Adirondack Expo at the George T. Hiltebrant Recreation Center on North Street in Old Forge on Saturday and Sunday, August 1 and 2.

This will be the eighth time NEACA President David Petronis and his partner and wife, Cathy, have hosted the local show at the GTH Center since 2009. Continue reading →

String Trio to perform at Woodgate Chapel

The Magendanz String Trio will be performing during the regular worship service of the Woodgate Chapel on Sunday, August 9. The program will include works by Mozart, Beethoven and Hayden, among others.

The Reverend James Ulrich will conduct the worship. The program begins at 10:15 a.m. The chapel is located on Rt. 28 immediately south of the blinking light in Woodgate. All are welcome.

Friends of Liza Maio gathered at Lakeside Terrace in Old Forge on Tuesday, July 23 to wish her happiness as she moves to her new home in Utica.

The party of 22 exchanged stories and enjoyed a special cake baked by Ruth Brussel at the bittersweet celebration.

Liza was the last of the original tenants at the apartment complex, which opened in December 1989. At the time she had the opportunity to select the unit of her choice.
