Town of Webb senior Margaret “Maggie” Queen, 16, is a lifelong resident of Inlet, starting at the Town of Webb school in eighth grade.
In the fall, she is planning to attend SUNY Oswego to study Broadcasting and Journalism.
“I think there are a lot of good career opportunities in the field,” she said.
About three years ago, she had some hands-on experience in the field and put together some commercials at Barbizon Modeling School in Albany. Continue reading

From the moment we slide out of the birth canal our brand new little bodies start incurring costs. Mass medical bills accumulate at a rapid pace, in addition to all the high-priced goods and gadgets required to bring a newbie on board.
Of course, it doesn’t end there as we parents are well aware of. I think the total cost of raising a child from birth to “get out” is somewhere around a hundred grand. Continue reading

In mid-June of 1979 the grasses in the ditch were almost a foot tall and the trees in the woods surrounding my Limekiln Lake home were thick with leaves creating a canopy of green.
As my dog Mutt and I strolled along a well-used footpath around the lake one Saturday morning, it appeared that the blackflies had died down a bit; however the air felt heavy and smelled of rain.
I scooted along with my fishpole in hand while Mutt dodged back and forth across the path, nose to the earth, looking for signs of chipmunks. Continue reading
The Old Forge/ Thendara Shuttle is scheduled to start on June 18, 2015, with two ADA compliant shuttles in service, according to Nick Rose, executive director of CAP-21.
Rose has been working in recent weeks on the local logistical aspects of the shuttle service, along with Town of Webb Publicity Director Mike Farmer.
The Shuttle will operate Thursday through Sunday until September 6. Continue reading

George T. Hiltebrant of Thendara announced Thursday, June 4 that he will be running for a seat on the Town of Webb Board.
Hiltebrant, a Democrat and veteran of local politics, served on the Webb Board from 1972 to 1976 and as Supervisor from January 1977 to December 2001.
A lifelong area resident, he is currently a member of the Webb Board of Assess-ment and Review, the Town of Webb School Board and the Thendara Golf Club Board of Directors. Continue reading
