HASCA would like to thank everyone who supported  Natalie Tickner and myself as guest bartenders at Van Auken’s Inne on Sunday, September 18. Your generosity was overwhelming. All tips, totalling $316, were donated to HASCA.

Thanks also to Joan, Mary and Jessica for allowing us the use of their bar for our benefit.

These funds will help HASCA continue its mission to assist community members in their daily lives, thus allowing them to live in their own homes.

Letter to the Editor: Impressed with job performance of Town of Webb Justice Pat Venetz

Dear Editor:

Working with Judge Patrick Venetz in the Town of Webb Judge’s office for a number of years gave me an opportunity to see our judicial system at its best.

Judge Venetz initiated a proposal to get the office’s first computer. I wrote the proposal, and when it received funding from New York state, installed that computer and software and several more computers for the judge’s office.

While working there I witnessed Pat and the late Judge Al Smith spending many, many hours with teenagers trying to help them through their problems and also working with confused or frightened defendants helping them understand the judicial system.

What I saw was a compassionate and business-like judicial environment.

We are very fortunate in Old Forge to have so many skilled and able citizens running for office. I think Judge Venetz has done an outstanding job and should be re-elected.

Sincerely,

Dan Tickner, Sr.
