38th Snodeo Fun-filled family weekend to kick off 2014 sled season

The snowmobile trail system in the Towns of Webb and Inlet officially open on Monday, December 8 and will be celebrated at the 38th Annual Snodeo, the traditional kick-off event of the snowmobile season on Friday through Sunday, December 12, 13 and 14.

Sponsored by the Central Adirondack Association, Snodeo will be held at the George T. Hiltebrant Recreation Center on North Street which will be filled with sleds, gear and accessories that will appeal to snowmobile enthusiasts of all ages. Continue reading

CAA seeking door prize donations

The Central Adirondack Association is seeking merchandise from area businesses for door prize give aways at the 38th Annual Snodeo that will be held at the George T. Hiltebrant Recreation Center on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 12, 13 and 14.

Anyone interested in making a donation is asked to contact Laurie Barkauskas at (315) 369-6983 ext. 23, or stop by the Old Forge Visitor Information Center.

Central Adirondack Assn. announces Snodeo raffle winners

The winners of the 2013 Snodeo raffles were drawn at the end of the event on Sunday, December 15 at the George T. Hiltebrant Recreation Center.

First prize winner of a new snowmobile was Michael Lulli of Newburgh, NY. Kevin Blair of Glenwood, NJ held the winning ticket for a Polaris 120 snowmobile.

Victor Dagostino of Wayne, NJ took the second cash prize of $1,000; Bill McGough of Woodgate won third prize of $500; fourth prize winner of $300 was Wayne Walters of Mechanicsburg, PA; and fifth and sixth prize winners of $100 each were Jennifer Conover of Saratoga Springs, NY and Brian Teichman of Crompond, NY.

The Snodeo is currently in its 37th year. The annual event is the Town of Webb’s official kick-off to the snowmobile season.

Snodeo returns to kick off local snowmobile season

The 22 inches of fresh snow and cold temperatures that dropped this week are just what snowmobilers and area businesses ordered for the 37th Annual Snodeo that will take place at the George T. Hiltebrant Recreation Center on North Street this weekend, December 13, 14 and 15th.

All four major snowmobile manufacturers—Arctic Cat, Polaris, Ski Doo and Yamaha—will be displaying their 2014 machines, as well as offering a chance to win one in this year’s Snodeo raffle on Sunday.

Doors will be open on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will feature, a vintage snowmobile show, youth snowmobile races, and a fireworks display on Saturday at 5:15 p.m.

The raffle for the snowmobile and cash prizes will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Snodeo is sponsored by the Central Adirondack Association. A full schedule of weekend activities can be found at www.snodeo.com.

Kitty Kat Racers will compete again at Old Forge’s 2013 Snodeo

Representatives from the four major manufacturers—Arctic Cat, Polaris, Ski Doo and Yamaha—will be on-hand with their 2014 models.

Additional vendors include CHO-KO, Camoplast, Sled-freak, Mach Studs, Premiere, and many other vendors offering holiday shopping opportunities.

Snodeo will be open Friday from 3 to 7 p.m., with food provided by the Northwoods Women’s Club and beverages provided by North Woods Inn.

Doors will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The Vintage Snowmobile Show will begin at 10 a.m. with awards presented in 15 different categories at 2 p.m. Pre-registration is not required. All participants receive dash plaques.  Continue reading
