Webb scholarship to honor Roland Christy Sr.’s memory

A group of local friends of the late Roland Christy, Sr. have recently established The Roland D. Christy, Sr. Memorial Fund, a scholarship fund that will benefit a Town of Webb School graduate pursuing higher education. 100_1783_crp

Administered by The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties, Inc., the annual scholarship, which will begin in 2015, will be presented to a student pursuing a four- or two-year degree or trade school certificate who best exemplifies Roland’s characteristics and shows financial need.

The fund will be endowed so only the income from the fund will be paid out. Therefore, the fund will live forever.

The organizing committee, Steve Young of Eagle Bay, Penny Stuart and Brad Damon of Inlet, and Tim White of Old Forge, have set a fund raising goal of $25,000 or more which would enable the fund to award at least a $1,000 scholarship per year, as earnings allow. Contributions of all sizes are welcome and tax-deductible.  Continue reading
