F. Jane Eyre died Friday, March 4, 2016 at St. John’s Home in Rochester, NY. She was born May 16, 1927 in Rochester, NY to Arthur E. Eyre, Sr. and Louise Dezen Eyre.

Janie is survived by her brother, Arthur Eyre and sister-in-law, Annette; her nieces Alison Eyre Albright, Hope Eyre, and Patience (Michael) Rubyor, great-niece Tenley Jane Albright and great-nephews Ross Eyre Albright, Justin Rubyor, and Wyatt Donaldson.

She is also survived by her best friend and constant companion of 82 years, Suzanne Barrett of Rochester, NY and Third Lake, Old Forge.  Continue reading

Local service planned for Julia M. Biehn, 77

Julia Mary Gibson Biehn, of Limekiln Lake, Inlet, passed away on March 1, 2016, in the early afternoon, surrounded by family. Julie was playing tennis when she was stricken, on Saturday, February 27, with a heart attack and lost consciousness. She won the final point.

Julie was born in New Hartford, NY, on August 21, 1938, to Marvin Edward Gibson and Evelyn (Bacile) Gibson.  Continue reading

Service planned for James E. Reynolds, 92

James E. Reynolds, 92, of Otter Lake, NY, passed away February 26, 2016, at home.

He was born November 29, 1923, in Ithaca, NY, a son of the late Beth Miller Reynolds.  He graduated from Trumansburg High School in 1941.

Jim proudly served his Country in World War II in the US Army. He was captured in the Battle of the Bulge and held Prisoner of War in Stalag 9B in Bad Orb, Germany. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star, POW Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.   Continue reading

Jeanne Elizabeth Harwood Conway 90, beloved Mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at sunset, surrounded by her loving family, in Troy, NY.

She was born in Inlet, NY, June 4, 1925 to Grace and K. Leonard Harwood.

Jeanne graduated from the Town of Webb High School in June 1942 as the Salutatorian of her class.

She continued her education at St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in New York City graduating as an RN in the class of 1945.  Continue reading

David A. Peck, 67, of Old Forge passed away February 24, 2016, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester following a brief illness.

He was born October 9, 1948, in Carthage, NY, a son of Arthur and June (Sochia) Peck, and graduated from Notre Dame High School in Utica. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1975 at the rank of SPC4. Dave was united in marriage to Paula Weiner on March 22, 1986, in Herkimer, NY. Continue reading

John S. “Jack” Prichard, 67, of Otter Lake, NY, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2016, at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse with his wife by his side.

He was born August 9, 1948, in Utica, NY, a son of John E. and Gloria (Dardzinski) Prichard. He was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Mohawk High School. Continue reading

David Edward Geiger, 72, of The Villages in Florida passed away peacefully on February 18, 2016.

Dave, son of the late Mary and Fred Geiger, is survived by his wife Kimberly Fischer Geiger of The Villages; his sons Michael and Brad (Beth) of Myrtle Beach, SC; his brothers Steve (Mary Jane) of Endwell, NY, Tommy of Oxford, NY and John of Tampa, FL; his nephews and niece Chris (Margie), Jim (Dawn) and Michelle Heyman (Matt).
