Adirondack Museum to present Antiques Show & Sale, Sept. 19 & 20

Central Adirondack Kiwanis celebrated its 28th anniversary and the 100th anniversary of Kiwanis International at a special luncheon meeting held on Friday, September 4  at Van Auken’s Inne.

Special guest was Town of Webb School Principal John Swick who offered a presentation on his involvement with the development of an orphanage that will house 400 children in Guadalupe, Mexico.  Continue reading

Swick named Kiwanis guest speaker for Sept. 4

The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks will hold a special luncheon meeting at Van Auken’s Inne in Thendara on Friday, September 4 at noon.

Kiwanis & Honor Society collaborate on Webb school Buddy Bench project

The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks and members of the Town of Webb School National Honor Society were collaborators in the creation of a Buddy Bench that was recently placed and dedicated at the school’s playground.

In attendance at the dedication were kindergarten through second grade students and NHS members.

The concept of the Buddy Bench, a place to go for peer support when a student is having issues, concerns or problems in their lives, was suggested by Mary Lee Kalil of Inlet.  Continue reading

Kiwanis readies 6th Annual Paddle Classic

The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks will host the 6th Annual Kiwanis Old Forge Paddle Classic on Saturday, June 27.

There are two races that will depart from the Town of Webb Navigation Dock at the Old Forge Pond. A 6-Mile Race from Old Forge lakefront to Treasure Island on First Lake, and back; and a 12-Mile Race from Old Forge lakefront to Alger Island on Fourth Lake, and back.

There will be awards for various categories of canoes, kayaks and guideboats.  Continue reading

Longtime Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks member Ray Schoeberlein was honored with the Walter Zeller Fellow Award at a special recognition event held at Van Auken’s Inne on Sunday, June 7.

The Walter Zeller award was created by Kiwanis International Foundation to recognize any individual in whose name a donation of $1,250 has been made to the Kiwanis Eliminate Project.  Continue reading

Kiwanis elects officers for 2015-2016

The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks elected officers to serve for the program year, beginning October 1, 2015, at its Annual Meeting that was held at Walt’s Diner on Thursday, May 7.

Town of Webb students participate in Kiwanis Leadership Program

Town of Webb School students and Kiwanis Key Club members Madison Rice, Rebecca Sessions, Ashley Eisenhart and Montana Burrell attended the New York State Kiwanis Key Leader Program at Camp Stella Maris in Livonia, NY over the weekend of May 1, 2 and 3.

The students were sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks.

Madison and Rebecca both participated in the program last year and worked as facilitators to help with the group meetings and leadership workshops.

Key Leader is a Leadership Training Program for high school students ages 14 to 18 years old. Key Leader provides both a classroom component, and hands-on outdoor workshops which reinforce the classroom teachings.

Students learn integral life skills focused on Integrity, Community Building, Pursuit of Excellence, Personal Growth and Respect.
