Established nearly 50 years, Herron Realty changes hands

New generation: Founders Jim and Judy turn operations over to daughter, Jackie Herron

Jim and Judy Herron have announced that their daughter, Jackie Herron Darmody, has officiallly taken over Herron Realty as broker/owner of the busy real estate business on Main Street in Old Forge.

Darmody, a graduate of the Town of Webb School, has worked in the business since 1988, so the field of real estate has been a big part of her adult life.

Jim and Judy Herron have been in the real estate business since 1962, when they operated two real estate offices in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.

Both snowmobilers, they were attracted to the Old Forge area because of the sport. Continue reading

Town of Webb election profile

Councilman J.B. Herron gave special attention to recycling efficiency in his first term, looking forward to new projects

J.B. Herron—or James B. Herron, Jr. as his name will appear on the ballot in November—is seeking reelection to his seat on the Town of Webb Board.

He is a Republican residing in Old Forge, with his first four-year term due to expire in December.

As one of two Republicans running for two open seats on the Board, Herron was not involved in a primary.

“Basically I’ve been trying to work on efficiency in local government and in the operation of our departments,” Herron said.

A main focus during his first term has been bringing efficiency to Webb’s recycling program. Continue reading

Lori Herron named new KYAC director

Lori Herron of Old Forge has been selected as the new director of Kommunity Youth Activity Center (KYAC) in Old Forge. Lori moved to Old Forge from Connecticut in 2000 to work for Lynn University as an admissions counselor. Before moving to Old Forge, she worked for the Department of Children Services in New Haven, CT.

She is married to local businessman and Town of Webb councilman, J.B. Herron. They have two children, Natalie and James, who attend the Town of Webb School. Continue reading
