Artist Gerda Wikander turned 101 on July 13 and celebrated the occasion at a dinner at Van Auken’s Inne with her daughter Kristine and friends.

Gerda has been a summer resident of Eagle Bay for 63 years, though she has been visiting the area for 98 years.

An award-winning painter, a retrospective of her work, A Blessed Journey, was on exhbit at VIEW in the summer of 2013.

Her history with the arts center dates back to 1952 as a participant in its first Central Adirondack Art Show.

She is currently working on a painting for VIEW’s annual Plein Air Paint Out that will be held September 3 to 5.
