Forestport Food Pantry volunteers attend conference

Volunteers from the Food Pantry at St. Patrick’s Church in Forestport attended the Food Bank of Central New York’s annual conference in May in Syracuse at the Holiday Inn.

The daylong conference offered 12 different workshop sessions on a variety of issues for providing food pantry services and increasing the exposure to healthier food options for food pantry clients. Continue reading

Poker tourney to benefit Forestport athletics

A Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament will be held at the Boonville Elks Club on Route 12 in Boonville on Sunday, April 26 beginning at 1 p.m.

Town Supervisor Parker Snead reports on local gov’t happenings

Forestport Residents: 

While your Town Board was able to cut the 2015 budget about $127,000 from 2014, there is work to be done to avoid adding a town tax.

Even though we spent about $57,000 less in 2014 than in 2013, we still spent about $67,000 more than we brought in. This continues a trend of the past 5 years. Continue reading

Letter to the editor concerning the Forestport Town Supervisor Parker Snead harassing people and the botched cover up

Two written complaints about Supervisor Parker Snead have been submitted to the Town of Forestport, one from a town employee, a second from a resident/business owner. Copies of each are available from the Town Clerk.

Another claim against the Town of Forestport involves Snead’s alleged behavior and actions. Continue reading

Forestport Chamber of Commerce banishes two members, including founder

To the Editor: 

I requested and received all the documents from the County Clerk’s office pertaining to Karen Howard’s lawsuit, after which I attended the Chamber of Commerce meeting on February 24, 2015.

The Town Board and Forest-port voters should be made aware the Chamber of Commerce accepted Karen Howard’s terms and settled the suit.  Continue reading

Forestport resident organizes dance fitness benefit, Feb. 28

Forestport resident Michelle Hubalek, a Team ASMC member, is organizing a charity event that will benefit America’s Greatest Heart Run and Walk in Utica.

Dance to the Beat of My Heart, My Life will be held Saturday, February 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Rome School for the Deaf.  Continue reading
