Old Forge: St. Bartholomew’s Church releases annual Food Pantry Report

Eileen Tobin, coordinator of the Food Pantry at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Old Forge, has released her annual report which reflects the assistance given to the community from November 2012 through November 2013.

Her report shows the need in the area for this resource which is made entirely possible through the cooperation of various organizations and the generosity of the community.

Tobin said that 313 households utilized the pantry, 398 adults, 76 elderly, and 211 children. A total of 9,055 meals were provided. Continue reading

Old Forge Hardware edges closer to fundraising goal; proceeds to benefit the local food pantries

The Old Forge Hardware has been selling soup can tags as a fundraising effort for the food pantries at Niccolls Memorial and St. Bartholomew’s Churches.

The Hardware Store has pledged to match donations up to $500 with all proceeds to benefit the food pantries.

So far $388 has been collected, which leaves them just $112 away from their goal that will ultimately translate into a $1,000 donation to the cause. Continue reading

The staff of the Old Forge Hardware has launched a fundraising effort for the Webb Community Food Pantry that will continue through Christmas.

Non-perishable food and household goods may be dropped off at the Hardware throughout the holiday season.

Those who wish to make a monetary donation may do so by purchasing a “soup can tag” for $1 that will be placed on the front windows at the Old Forge Hardware. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to the Community Food Pantry through Niccolls Memorial Church and St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church.

Additionally, the Old Forge Hardware will match all monetary donations up to a total of $500. Continue reading
