EB Fire Dept. readies annual sale

The Eagle Bay Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will hold its annual White Elephant and Bake Sale at the Eagle Bay Fire Department on Route 28 on Saturday, May 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Lots of toys, odds-n-ends, tools, books and much more will be available for sale.

Donations for the sale are appreciated but will only be accepted on Thursday, May 21 and Friday, May 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please, no junk, clothes or electronics. Appliances in good working order will be accepted.

If these days or times are not convenient, please call (315) 357-5121 or 357-2191 to make special arrangements.

There will also be a wide assortment of freshly made baked goods and hot dogs for sale.

Eagle Bay Fire Dept. & Auxiliary set Chicken & Rib BBQ, Aug. 2

The Eagle Bay Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary will host a Chicken and Rib Barbecue at the Eagle Bay Fire  Hall located on Rte. 28 on Saturday, August 2 from noon until all is sold out. Folks can eat in or take out.

Local Master BBQ Chef Eric Sutherland will return to prepare the barbecue. The event is catered by Red Dog Tavern.

Otter Lake Fire Dept. Dinner set June 28

The Otter Lake Fire Department will host its 2nd Annual Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday, June 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the firehouse on Route 28.

The dinner will include “all you can eat” spaghetti with a choice of meatball and/or sausage, tossed salad, roll and dessert. The price is $8 per person with a dollar discount offered to seniors. The cost for children ages 12 and under is $6. Continue reading

Michael Lamphear elected Raquette Lake Fire Chief

Michael Lamphear was unanimously elected Fire Chief of the Raquette Lake Fire Depart-ment at elections held at the Raquette Lake Fire Hall on Friday, April 4th.

Lamphear, who previously served as 2nd Assistant Chief, was nominated by out-going Chief Mark Bird.

Chief Lamphear is a trained Class A interior firefighter who has been a volunteer for 14 years in various departments. He has also been an EMT for 12 years, serving the past eight as a Critical Care Tech.   Continue reading

Otter Lake Fire Dept. says thank you

Chief Jeff Abrial presents a check for $176 to Program Director Sonya SkidmoreThe Otter Lake Fire Department hosted a spaghetti dinner on June 29th to benefit the department equipment fund and the Forestport Summer Recreation Program.

The dinner was a great success, and we plan on doing it again in the future. Thanks to all those who turned out for our inaugural event.

Old Forge Fire Auxiliary donates to Strand project

The Old Forge Fire Department Auxiliary presented Bob Card and Helen Zyma, owners of the Strand Theatre in Old Forge, with a $3,000 check on Thursday, July 18 to aid with the theater’s digital conversion costs. The money was raised through popcorn and beverage sales during the 4th of July fireworks in Old Forge and other fundraising projects.
