Goodsell Museum seeking items for ‘local medicine’ exhibit

The Museum Committee of the Town of Webb Historical Association has begun collecting artifacts and information for an upcoming exhibit, “Medicine Up North”, that will be on display at the Goodsell Museum.

The exhibit, which is scheduled to open on Friday, November 25, will remain on display through October 2012.

The Museum Committee is currently collecting information from residents connected in any way with the local health care industry.

They would also be interested in hearing stories about experiences with local doctors, dentists, nurses, pharmacies, and health care treatments.

25th Annual Quilt Exhibit opening Saturday at View

The 25th Annual Northeast Quilts Unlimited Exhibition will open at View in Old Forge on Saturday, October 8 with the competitive exhibition featuring traditional and eclectic quilts and wall hangings created by quilting artists from across the country.

The exhibit will stay on display through November 30. Opening day will begin with a Quilting Lecture at 10 a.m. led by Molly Waddell, National Quilting Association Certified Judge and Juror of Awards for this year’s exhibition.

Pre-registration is required and the $15 non-member and $10 member fee includes exhibition admission.

30th Adirondacks National Watercolor Exhibit to open Aug. 13

The 30th Annual Adirondacks National Exhi-bition of American Watercolors will be on display at View, the new arts center in Old Forge, from August 13 through October 2.

This highly competitive exhibition features the aqua media works on paper from many of the best living painters in North America.

It has been ranked one of the ten best competitive watercolor exhibitions in the country by The Artists magazine, and has received numerous endorsements and accolades.

There will be an opening reception and preview on Friday, August 12, which will be free to members and exhibiting artists. Admission is $10 for non-members. Continue reading
