Dr. Wendy Bashant, formerly of New Hartford, has been appointed Dean of Student Affairs at the Thurgood Marshall School of the University of California at San Diego.

She will be responsible for  the undergraduate students attending Marshall College and will teach British Literature in the honors program.

Dr. Bashant graduated from New Hartford High School, was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Middlebury College and received her doctorate from the University of Rochester.

She taught at Utica College, was  a tenured English professor at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA, and then Dean of Students at the New College of Florida in Sarasota, FL.

She is the daughter of Dr. Gordon Bashant and Nancy Bashant, formerly of New Hartford and presently of San Diego and Old Forge.
